What are you doing with your Spring Break?

We believe it's possible to relax, have fun, and to grow in your relationship with God at the same time.

SO ... We'd like to challenge you to invest your Spring Break in a way that will make a difference in your life and in the lives of others around you (whether that's on the beaches of Florida or South Carolina, the mountains and caves of North Carolina, the campus of Wayne State University, the rocky shoreline on Cleveland's Lake Erie, the hurricane swept south, or with the poor and needy in Haiti and El Salvador). We believe in you. And we believe that your life matters to the world. Consider yourself challenged.

Think it over, talk with your family, your friends. Ask us questions. Our question for you is how are you going to spend your spring break?

Registration Process

The registration process is a little different for our international vs. our domestic trips.

International Trips

Haiti - Use the same Online Registration Button as the U.S. trips
El Salvador - Visit the La Libertad, El Salvador Trip Page

U.S. Trips

Step 1 - Register Online

Step 2 - Pay

Deposits and Payment Options

Deposits

To secure your place on one of our Spring Break trips, we require the payment of a $100 non-refundable deposit. This allows us to purchase tickets, secure housing, and get the best prices on trip related expenses.

Your registration process is complete ONLY when we have received your completed online registration form AND your $100 deposit.

Once you've completed both your registration form and submitted your deposit we will lock in your spot on the trip of your preference, as long as space is still available. If your first preference trip is full, we will 'waitlist' you for that trip and lock you in for your second preference trip. But we will only do that once we have both your completed online registration form AND your initial $100 deposit. If you would prefer to pay for the entire trip cost up front that's fine as well.

There is one exception. Due to the nature of the trip, the Daytona Beach, FL trip has some supplemental application questions. Answers to these questions may override the 'first come first serve' approach for this trip.

Payment Options

There are three ways to pay for your Spring Break trip.

Pay Online

This is the same system we use for donations so please don't be too confused by the terminology. You can make payments for Spring Break by selecting the 'giving' category called "Spring Break Registration Fees".

Mail a Check

Make checks payable to "New Life Church"
Send payments by mail to:

New Life Church
Finance Department :: Spring Break
1541 Washtenaw Ave.
Ann Arbor, MI 48104

Please make sure your name appears on the check and write "Spring Break" (along with the name of your trip) in the memo line
Example: "Spring Break - Cleveland"

Pay in Person

You can always stop by our Info Center on Sunday mornings in the Auditorium Lobby to make a payment (cash, credit or check).

Questions?

What should you do if you really want to go on one of our Spring Break trips, but can't afford it? Go ahead and give us a call or an email and we'll talk through the particulars of your situation. We do have some scholarship money available for this year's Spring Break trips.

If you have any questions about Spring Break payments, please contact:

Joel VanderSchel (Operations Pastor, 734.417.0665)

2012 Trips

Each year we continue to explore new trip opportunities for Spring Break. We want to provide excellent trips for you each year! We also want to make sure those trips are diverse and provide enough capacity to cover everyone who is interested. This year we have two international trips (El Salvador, Haiti), one community service trip (New Orleans, LA for hurricane relief), one trip to Wayne State that will help to support our 2013 church plant, and six trips focused on spiritual development (two to South Carolina, Cleveland, Cocoa Beach, somewhere else in Florida, and somewhere in the Appalachian Mountains).

If you're interested in knowing more about these trips than is posted here, please feel free to get in touch with the trip contact. If you have overall questions regarding Spring Break trips with New Life, please contact:

Have you ever wondered what it means to give your life fully to Jesus? Do you sense he might have huge dreams and purposes for your life? We believe that God calls each and every Christian to play a crucial role in what He's doing on this earth. At New Life, we believe he's given our church the special mission of reaching college campuses with the Gospel of Jesus in the state of Michigan and beyond, in order to ignite a world-changing movement in this generation. If you're wondering what mission God has made you for, or if you might have a role in partnering up with NLC in helping reach the nations, this trip is for you! We will talk about what it looks to be in full-time ministry, as well as what it means to have a passion for ministry in whatever occupation God might have for you. On this trip, we will explore our strengths and giftings, stories, and various passions God has put in our hearts to help further discover the epic life and mission He has made us especially for (Eph. 2:10).

This will be a great opportunity to spend time with God and other New Life students in beautiful Cocoa Beach, Florida! Additional highlights include dinner at a southern BBQ restaurant (Sonny's), a service project, a cookout at the beach and a free day to take your own adventure into rest--maybe a day at the beach or a nature preserve or going to a local theme park.

Made in the Image of God: The Glory of Sexuality

Does God have anything to say about sexuality other than what *not* to do? Being made Images of God—male and female—means that sex isn't just something we do; it's something we are. On this trip we'll explore what it means to be Images of God for the world as men and women, and what makes it so hard to do. And we'll come before God so He can re-form our identities in this area. Expect frank, honest, and respectful teaching and discussion. We'll also address specific issues, such as sexual addiction, same-sex attraction, misogyny, sexual anorexia, how to have healthy relationships with the members of the same and opposite sex, and others. Plus, we'll have fellowship and fun in Florida warmth, and the option of a trip to a theme park.

New Orleans, Louisiana

Trip Contact: Betsy Huebner, 734.635.7832
Trip Leaders: Betsy Huebner, Joel VanderSchel

Other projects may include installation of insulation, drywall, cyramic tile as well as general interior and exterior painting. We'll work during the daytime and have some time to relax and spend time together in the evenings, plus see a bit of New Orleans. If you have any questions, feel free to check out Annunciation Mission’s website (http://www.annunciationmission.org/) or contact Betsy Huebner.

Appalachian Mountains (North Carolina or Tennessee)

Estimated Cost: $325 (includes food, housing, one day of spelunking, and gas money; excludes meals on travel down & back and excludes any 'free' day activities)
Trip Capacity: 22

We will be spending one week together seeking God in the Appalachian mountains. We're staying in a beautiful and comfortable vacation home furnished with beds, a hottub, firepit, and surrounded by a beautiful view of the mountains. Together, we will pursue a greater depth in our relationship with God by spending time with Him, enjoying His creation, and engaging with each other. One day we will travel together on an epic caving adventure (known to the pros as spelunking) in a natural cave or go whitewater rafting (activity to be determined). There will be one free day in which you can enjoy the area as well. Other activities are available in the nearby area. Join us this week as we grow, get refreshed, and have fun by spending time with God, enjoying nature, and enjoying each other.

Cleveland, OH

Trip Contact: Keri Innes, 734.368.6287
Trip Leaders: Steve Hayes, Keri Innes, Jon & Andrea Roe
Trip Focus: [Spiritual Growth]
Cost: NEW! Dropped to $170 (includes food, housing, and gas money; excludes meals on travel to/from Cleveland)
Trip Capacity: 20

You may be thinking...why Cleveland? Some friends of New Life have opened up their home to us for a week (which is large enough to house all 20 of our trip participants). It's an absolutely gorgeous setting right on the water of Lake Erie. Or, if you prefer, places like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are just a few exits away. We are still formulating the program for this trip but it should prove to be a life-transforming week for your walk with God.

Wayne State

Trip Contact: Kevin Armstrong, 734.223.9980
Trip Leaders: Kevin & Meghan Armstrong, Rick Keith
Trip Focus: We are planning on sending the Armstrongs and a small team to plant a church at Wayne State in 2013. This trip will help lay some additional groundwork for that church plant.
Estimated Cost: $150
Trip Capacity: 10-15 people

Kevin and Meghan Armstrong are going with a team to plant a church at Wayne State University in the heart of Detroit in 2013. In this trip we will focus on campus at WSU, building relationships and sharing the Gospel with students on campus. We will also spend time getting to know the campus, hanging out in the city, serving in the city, and building relationships with other churches in the surrounding city. We believe that influencing the next generation of college students in Detroit is the gateway to influencing a broken city. If planting churches, influencing college students on another campus, or transforming Detroit sound exciting to you, consider joining us in the D.

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere where one need Haitians have is clean water. After the earthquake the need for accessible water has only increased. It is a unique opportunity to meet such a deep need for a hurting nation. If you are interested in missions or have a heart for the poor, consider joining us. You can raise financial support for the trip if you would like.

To sign-up for Haiti use the Online Registration Form (above)
