What are you doing with your Spring Break?

We believe it's possible to relax, have fun, and to grow in your relationship with God at the same time.

SO ... We'd like to challenge you to invest your Spring Break in a way that will make a difference in your life and in the lives of others around you (whether that's on the beaches of Florida or South Carolina, the mountains of Colorado, the sunshine reflecting off of beautiful Cedar Lake in Texas, the hurricane swept south, or with the poor and needy in Detroit, Haiti and El Salvador). We believe in you. And we believe that your life matters to the world. Consider yourself challenged.

Think it over, talk with your family, your friends. Ask us questions. Our question for you is how are you going to spend your spring break?

Registration

There are two different types of trips you can register for:

International Trips

International trips are filling up NOW so contact the trip leader ASAP to take part in either of our two El Salvador trips or our trip to Haiti with RainCatchers.

U.S. Trips

Deposits and Payment Options

Deposits

To secure your place on one of our Spring Break trips, we require the payment of a $100 non-refundable deposit. This allows us to purchase tickets, secure housing, and get the best prices on trip related expenses. Your registration process is complete ONLY when we have received your completed online registration form AND your $100 deposit. Once you've completed both your registration form and submitted your deposit we will lock in your spot on the trip of your preference, as long as space is still available. If your first preference trip is full, we will 'waitlist' you for that trip and lock you in for your second preference trip.

Payment Options

There are three ways to pay for your Spring Break trip.

Pay Online

This is the same system we use for donations so please don't be too confused by the terminology. You can make payments for Spring Break by selecting the 'giving' category called "Spring Break Registration Fees".

Mail a Check

Make checks payable to "New Life Church"
Send payments by mail to:

New Life Church
Finance Department :: Spring Break
1541 Washtenaw Ave.
Ann Arbor, MI 48104

Please make sure your name appears on the check and write "Spring Break" (along with the name of your trip) in the memo line
Example: "Spring Break - Colorado"

Pay in Person

You can always stop by our Info Center on Sunday mornings in the Auditorium Lobby to make a payment.

Trip Focus: Relationship with God (We'll be diving into The Prodigal God by Tim Keller)
Cost: $300
Capacity: 16 People (8 men, 8 women)

Hey y’all, come on down to Malakoff, Texas (about 1 ½ hours from Dallas)! We have a beautiful spot on the water (Cedar Lake) for a small group of individuals looking for spiritual refreshment. You’ll be staying in a beautifully renovated home with plenty of comfy space for 16 guests. There are all sorts of fun things to do: bonfires, and (if weather permits…start praying now!) waterskiing, wake boarding, tubing, and swimming. Last year we also snuck in some bowling, laser tag, and an aquarium visit. We’ll have time to be together, to talk, to worship, and to hear a few teachings on “spiritual disciplines” (prayer, Bible study, etc). This time is uniquely designed for people who want to grow deeper in their spiritual walk. You will have time to be alone, to dive into God’s Word and to be challenged to know God better. This is such a beautiful retreat – sign up fast, there’s only space for 8 men and 8 women.

Colorado

Trip Leaders: Nik Spasovski, Chris Gentz, Sarah Draves
Trip Focus: Taking it to the next level!
Cost: $375
Capacity: 20

The theme for the Colorado Spring Break Trip is “Taking it to the next level”! We’ll be talking about how to take your relationship with God to the next level (with plenty of visual aid thanks to the Rockies) by answering the questions who is God, what is He really like, and who am I in His sight? There will be teachings, extended times with God, and times to share and dialogue as a group. We’ll also take some time to enjoy the scenery by going sledding and also having a free day to do whatever you’d like (skiing, hiking, etc.). We are going to be staying at a house of a ministry partner in Monument, CO, which is about 20 minutes from Colorado Springs and we’re planning on taking the train roundtrip! We’d love to have you to join us out west!

Detroit (The "D")

Trip Contact: Kevin Armstrong, 734.223.9980
Trip Leaders: Kevin Armstrong, Steve Batchelor
Trip Focus: Exposure to Urban Detroit
Cost: $135

Trip Capacity: 10-15 people

Forget the sunshine people! Come to Detroit! We will tour the city, get involved with a church in central Detroit, shadow teachers at a school in Southwest Detroit, help out at a community center in the poorest zip code in America, assist in neighborhood development with Central Detroit Christian, share our faith with students on Wayne State University's campus (located in the heart of the city), and much more. We will be wrestling with what God says about the brokenness we see around us and then even inside of us. We will be pursuing what it looks like to have freedom for the broken in the physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Detroit Trip 2 - Wolverine Human Services

Trip Contact: Steve Batchelor
Trip Focus: Exposure to Urban Detroit
Cost: $135

Trip Capacity: 5

In the poorest zip code in America, there is a community center for neighborhood kids and a residential treatment facility (which means they live at the facility) for boys that have had a difficult life. We are going to take 5 guys and serve at the community center, help their run their after school program, and invest in relationships with the boys in the residential program. We will get to know them and share Christ with them. We'll be spending our evenings with the other Detroit spring break crew as well so there will be a lot of opportunities to share experiences and build relationships with other students.

Haiti (with Rain Catchers)

Trip Contact: Karl Jansen, 269.271.2466
Trip Cost: $1770
Trip Capacity: 16 People (8 men, 8 women)

This year we are again going to Haiti to serve those in need. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere where one need Haitians have is clean water. Oftentimes their water sources are infested with disease. To address this need, we go the mountains in Haiti and install rain catchers on homes. The devices catch rainwater and filters it into a 55 gallon drum--enough for a family and their neighbors. It is a unique opportunity to meet such a deep need. If you are interested in missions or have a heart for the poor, consider joining us. The dates of the trip are Feb 26-March 5 (Friday to Friday). You can raise financial support for the trip if you would like.

Contact Karl if you would like further information or to sign-up.

Go to RainCatchers to see what a "Raincatcher" looks like.

Please take the Thanksgiving Holiday opportunity to talk with your parent(s) about this trip, sign-ups have already begun.
